Paper mill in Arunachal sought
NEW DELHI, Nov 01: Tanyon Tatak, Chairman, Yora Tagung, Vice Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resources and Development Agency (APBRDA) and Kahfa Bengia has called on Praful Patel, Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises here in Delhi and requested him to take up the proposals for establishing a paper mill, a plywood factory and bamboo technology park in the state. The minister, however, asked them to submit project proposals officially to the department of heavy industries and promised to fulfill the proposals during next financial year.
During the course of discussion, Tagung said establishment of paper mill and plywood industries in state will help reduce unemployment problem to some extent. A paper mill will provide direct employment for 2000 people and indirect employment to another 5000. On invitation Patel also promised to visit the state in the coming new year.
Tasso Tai wins the Chess title
ITANAGAR, Nov 01: Tasso Tai won the Lower Subansiri District level Chess Championship which concluded on Oct 31 last.
Tai collected 6.5 points while Hage Lasha (Nado) earned 6 points to secure the second position. The 3rd , 4th and 5th position were won by Takhe Pai, Padi Khambo and Gem Taje respectively in general category.
Under the 17 years category, Takhe Robin, (4.5 points), Bullo Apha, (4 points), and Likha Taram, (3 points) won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
Earlier, Lower Subansiri DCC president Kime Nime in his inaugural speech encouraged the players to maintain sportsman spirit and assured to extend all possible assistance for promotion of the game. Training on scientific cultivation of mushroom
ITANAGAR, Nov 01: District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Tirap conducted training for farmers on Mushroom Farming at Kaimai, Khela and Kapu of Tirap and Jedua village of Longding district from October 29 to November 1.
Altogether, 30 SHGs from Kaimai, Khela, New Bunting, Choimoithong, Kapu, Longo and Jedua villages were given practical training on scientific cultivation of mushroom by resource persons from Mushroom Development Foundation Guwahati. The resource persons also informed the SHGs about the advantage of mushroom farming. The participants were also shown some success stories through projectors.

IT graduates neglected, says AUEA
ITANAGAR, Nov 01: Arunachal Unemployed Engineers’ Association (AUEA), in a memorandum, has appealed to the Secretary, Hydro Power Development, to make Information Technology (IT) graduates eligible to apply for the posts, the advertisement for which was published in a local daily on October 12 last.
Expressing strong resentment for depriving the IT graduates for the posts, AUEA clarified that the subjects studied by both IT graduates and Computer Science and Technology graduates were same. In fact, there is no difference, in terms of subjects studied, between the two courses, it claimed,
The unemployment among the qualified IT Engineers is on the rise due to lack of employment opportunity in various state govt departments.
The departments, where IT related posts exist, are being occupied by unskilled persons, which have hampered effective functioning of the department concerned. For instance, it claimed, most of the CICs are now lying defunct. Also the websites of various government departments have either expired or lying defunct for want of timely updation, it claimed.
Further, most of the government departments do not have recruitment provisions for IT engineers as they are unaware of the benefits offered by IT, the memorandum said adding that IT awareness can significantly reduce government expenditure.

ITANAGAR, Nov 01: Childline Itanagar, under the aegis of Don Bosco Youth Centre organized an awareness program to sensitize the college students on the rights and protection of children at Dera Natung College, here today.
While highlighting activities of Childline, the Childline team briefed the 200 strong Dera Natung College students on protection of child rights and gave a presentation on the grim scenarios of child victims in the Arunachal Pradesh.
The program highlighted the grim situation prevailing in the whole of North East, which is apparently turning a deaf ear to the cry of children. Pamphlets were distributed to every individual in and around the college campus.
The highly interactive program involved the students in developing a strategic plan to reach out to more deprived children and uproot the subtle exploitation of the children of our state, who are basically child laborers below the age of 14 years.
The Childline Team also appealed to the collegians to come forward to volunteer to make someone’s life better and beautiful.

Addressing the party rally, Tuki acknowledged the support of his party workers and political colleagues for their unstinted support while discharging his duties.
“My commitment is to make Congress a strong party in the state and will carry forward the mission for a developed Arunachal,” Tuki emphatically said. He, however, admitted internal bickering among the party workers and maintained that he was trying his best to bind them together.

The other new schemes for implementation include, chief minister’s agriculture mechanization programme for providing fifty per cent subsidy to poor and marginal farmers, CM skill development programme for unemployed youths, CM Livelihood Mission School, CM Prayatan Vikas Yojana, Disability Pension Scheme, students stipend etc.
Tuki also took a dig at the Opposition BJP, which had recently threw a slew of allegation on the ruling Congress Government. He said allegations have to be substantiated with proof.
“Going to the media to throw allegations blindfolded will serve no purpose. It would only backlash and put the party in poor light,” he said. The Chief Minister also expressed concern over the tussle over the Greenfield airport site. He called upon the people not to get misled by some people with vested interest.
Clarifying that his government has no role on the decision taken by the Center to shift the airport site from Banderdewa to Holongi, he said till the last moment he personally had never imagined Hollongi as an airport site.

KHONSA, Nov 01: Security forces including the Tirap police, 36 Bn CRPF and 1st Bn Assam Rifles (AR) personnel conducted a raid in Chasa village where cadres of the NSCN (IM) and NSCN (K) were involved in a factional clash on October 23 last and recovered an AK series assault rifle.
Tirap SP Vikramjit Singh informed in a press release that the NSCN cadres withdrew from the village and ‘fled away into the forest’ on seeing the security forces approaching the village.

Calling for incorporating and imparting a peripheral regional history and culture into mainstream educational knowledge system, Tuki said it would allow students to appreciate and understand the diverse culture of the North East India in general and Arunachal Pradesh in particular.

Elder Obama was probably a prominent farmer, elder of the tribe, a medicine man with healing powers. Thus, he had the honour of being the first African student to be admitted to Hawaii University where he distinguished himself and organised International Students’ Union of which he became its first president. Honest, very confident of himself, domineering and uncompromising, after three years he graduated in economics at the top of his class. It was in Hawaii that during a Russian language course he met 18 years white American girl, Stanley Ann his second wife who delivered the future American 44th President a year after marriage. First wife, Kezia mother of sons Roy, Abo, Bernard and daughter Auma remained in native land.
In 1963 senior Barack left Hawaii, wife and two years old son and went to Harvard University on a scholarship to study Ph. D. Wife Ann declined to accompany despite persistent efforts by husband and divorced him. Why? Because the father in law, elder Obama refused to accept a foreign bahu which was reiterated via unending letters addressed to her father Stanley Dunham . At Harvard, Barack senior married third wife Ruth, another white American who went to live with him in Nairobi on completion of his studies in Harvard. Sons Mark and David were from Ruth who divorced him and remarried a Tanzanian when the President’s father went through a low phase and began to hit the bottles. Much later, 4th wife, a very young African girl delivered George the seventh son to senior Barack.

I would like to draw the attention of concern authority of Upper Subansiri district towards the deteriorated condition of township roads.
The road condition of the Daporijo township is at its worst which needs immediate
attention of the concern authority including GREF. The GREF road which passes through
the very heart of Daporijo town is the lifeline of the people of the area. The
road is never renovated in true sense. If there is any maintenance work then it
is only filling up of the potholes only to be washed away or deteriorated within
